Achieving intellectual wellness goals may feel overwhelming at first but remember it’s the journey that counts. Our wellness journeys are not meant to be linear, start small and celebrate each step forward. There are a range of activities and behaviors you can implement to improve your intellectual wellness. Check out some tips below!
Adequate nutrition and high quality sleep are the foundations for brain health and overall functioning. Food and sleep significantly impact your ability to learn and focus throughout the day. Make getting nutrient dense foods and high quality sleep a part of your everyday routine.
It can be easy to get into a routine with the daily hustle and bustle. Don’t lose the magic of exploring something new! Pursue a new hobby, read a new book, try a new recipe, change up your exercise routine, or explore a new game to try with loved ones. Mastering a new activity or hobby provides a sense of accomplishment.
Humans are social creatures by nature. Community provides comfort and acceptance. Remember to nurture relationships around you and prioritize maintaining social connections.
Welcome new mental and creative pursuits. Get involved in brain games! Sudoku, word searches, and crosswords are all fun ways to stimulate the mind. Finding new creative pursuits is an opportunity to explore new talents and skills you had within you.
Be actively engaged in conversation, readings, and meetings - think about what is happening. Learn that there is more than one way to do something. Experiences and challenges are an opportunity for growth. Identify and address challenging thoughts and behaviors and choose appropriate courses of action after careful analysis.
